Floor-to-ceiling light timber carpentry
The carpentry runs from floor to ceiling in a light timber finish. In a galley, the walls are where the storage lives, so taking the cabinets all the way up uses height that would otherwise be empty. Keeping one light timber tone across the full height also makes the run read as a single, quiet surface instead of a patchwork of boxes, which helps a narrow room feel less crowded.
A dark counter to anchor the room
Against all that light timber, the dark counter gives the eye a clear horizontal line at working height. The contrast separates the worktop from the cabinets above and below, so the kitchen looks deliberate rather than washed out.
An open shelf with LED strips
Instead of closing every inch, the design keeps an open shelf lit with LED strips. It breaks up the tall carpentry, gives everyday items a place to sit within reach, and adds a layer of light over the counter.
A plum ceiling
The ceiling is painted plum. It is the one bold move in the room: the colour sits overhead and adds character, while the light timber and dark counter keep the walls and worktop calm.
